Route: Mossburn-Wreys Bush Road, Otautau-Wreys Bush Road, Riverton-Otautau Road, beach walk (25 km) from Riverton to Oreti beach, Dunns Road, Stead St, Highway 1 to just before Bluff town sign, Foveaux Walkway to Stirling Point.

Route Notes: (1) Rural roads from Mossburn to Riverton get little traffic, but Highway 1 from Invercargill to Foveaux Walkway is very busy. (2) There are few streams to cross along the beach, and one's feet will get wet on one or two; the exit to the road at Oreti beach is indicated by a lamp post visible from the beach. (3) Foveaux Walkway starts just before the "welcome to Bluff" sign on Highway 1, past the freezing works; there are marker poles as the track crosses open pasture, followed by a muddy bush track and then finally a smooth gravel track for the last half hour.
